I feel really close to our old coach on this one, and I've never hated David Stern more (and that's saying a lot, with distaste ranging back to the Knicks/Miami brawl). Maybe JVG should be fined for what he said, but come on, a hundred thou!! That's just flat out obnoxious of Stern to monetarily say Van Gundy's comments are twice as bad as anything else an NBA coach has ever done. And to threaten to chase Van Gundy out of the NBA?? Do I have to remind everyone that Stephen Jackson's playing right now, and that Artest will be next season?!?! Ridiculous. Not to mention, what JVG said had some merit. Maybe he could have put it nicer, but it seems to be acknowledge by everyone that after tapes sent to the NBA by Mark Cuban the refs are watching Yao more carefully. I mean that doesn't mean there's a conspiracy theory (esp. against Yao, who I'm sure the NBA would love to see advance in the playoffs) but the NBA basically admitted to watching him a little more carefully. After the foul trouble Yao's been in, is it really that big a stretch to understand why Van Gundy's a little pissed off? Then Stern goes on to demand JVG give him the source that tipped him off, as if he has something to hide. We all know Van Gundy's not giving that guy up, he knows his friend's job's at stake.
Thoughts?

I'm with you, i was friggin incensed, n i think Stern is usually a decent commish, esp when u follow baseball...lol

But on top of the fine, he says "he's not gonna continue in this league" if he continues to talk? GImme a f ucking break...he's tryna be a tough guy or something? What an ass, as if 100 thousand wasnt enough

Yea they closed the case because Jeff realized he was taken on the "MAFIA" of the NBA.

They(nba) had something to hide, that is why stern threaten him so severly.

well i'm sure stern must've been pretty pissed off by JVG's comments, I mean if I were commissioner of the NBA and was already having problems dealing with the referee's contracts and then one of the prominent head coaches comes out and says something outrageous like that I'd blow a vessel too. He did overreact, but he was provoked
