what does he have to do. when you can have kwami and smush as your starters and turn them into good role players. he is the man.

Yes he is I been saying this for years. He would have been a great pick for the knicks as head coach. Did you see the game last night the lakers was playing good team ball.

I hate to say it, but if he can make this team a contender every year...you gotta give him some credit. I hate the man, and I supported chasing LB over him, but he is showing me a little something. I'll reserve judgement.

Isn't this the same coach who said Kobe was uncoachable ?
Well phil has a second chance to coach Kobe and looks like the greatest player in the game (kobe) gave into phils system and philospophy and now the Coach looks like a genuis.
Larry Brown might be able to do the same thing if the so called best players buy into his system and shut up.

but look playa. phil adjusted to his team and kept them motivated. larry did they exact opposite. thats why this year was clear cut example why phil jackson is a better coach then brown. larry is not on phils level because larry has to be bigger then the players. everyone can see that and when your coach will do anything to be on front street even publicly diss his players then why would you wanna buy into his system. phil allows his players to shine and develop and also get praise by being in the back. larry's ego is the problem not buying into the system.

All what you said has some merit to it , but seems to me Kobe grew up and did what the coach wanted when it came to "WINNING".
I have a new respect for Mr Bryant, he truly wants to win.

Of course you had to turn this into something about marbury. I didn't see that coming...
Anyway, as much as Kobe "bought" into the system, think about it this way.
He got everything he wanted. He got his contract, they shipped out shaq, even Phil was gone. Kobe failed by himself, so they brought phil back. He took a whole year to realize he couldn't do it completely by himself.
Phil Jackson's coaching is not about it's effect on Kobe honestly, its on his effect on the other players. He built a system around Kobe shooting 35 times a game and kept the players HAPPY about it. That is where it all begins, with the role players. He has these guys killing themselves for Kobe (I agree with Bill Simmons here). Kobe didn't really have to buy in. This system is built around him doing what he does best, scoring.
Kobe is also a great player. I don't think anyone would mistake our "best" player for their's. I am not taking anything away from Kobe, but don't make this out to be Kobe listening to Phil and being a good soldier. He is doing great things this series, but the system also lets him feed his ego cuz its all bout him.
If Shaq was here, Phil woudl go back to tellling him to run the offense thru shaq and he would hate phil....the absence of shaq is a huge factor.

Kobe did just what you said he didn't, he bought into Phil saying pass the ball and trust your teammates.
This will make them feel a part of the game and in turn they will sell out and play hardcore defense.
You can do the chubby checker and try and twist this message all you want but Kobe finally listened to phil Jackson with no plan B!

i agree kobe has matured and thats natural. he was so young when he came in the league. now he wants to win and he has to make his teamates better. phils gets credit but kobe should also get it cause kobe is very stubborn.

Kobe won as a youngster already this is where the stubborness came from.
Now that he is older he recognizes that he doesn't have shaq around and the pistons beat he and shaq playing "TEAM BALL". This is what I think phil told him.

well his team just ignominiously lost at home to the suns who tied the series, and now his streak of always winning game sevens, and his streak of always getting out of the first round are in jeopardy of being broken. but even having said that I still think he is a really good coach.
