Let me know what you think of the Ipod Touch. I'm especially interested in hearing about how the wifi internet access is ...

My friend got one and she loves it. The internet access works great, but obviously you need to be in a hot spot, it's not a separate service.

Other than that, I just got another classic to replace my old one...160gigs for less than touch!

Ok so not only was I able to post this forum on wi-fi, I was also able to download cool apps (FREE) for facebook, myspace, flash player, a bunch of free games which are arcade style and some cool utilities too.

For example......if you have the iPod touch or iPhone, imagine being able to control your iTunes on your computer............ from your mobile device.

Very seamless setup, just enter a 4 digit code prompted on the computer and now you have full control of your songs, playlists etc right from your iPod or iPhone!!!

So, last night.......I connected the laptop to the audio video receiver and went to bed. Then...this morning I woke up, woke up the ipod touch and hit play on the utility....dolby surround sound with my favorite music to wake up to........and I am not a morning person so this stuff helps bigtime lol.

I also did more research on "jailbreaking" an iPod / iPhone. Jailbreaking is the process of basically removing any restrictions on the iPod / iPhone so that you can now install apps on the device OUTSIDE of apple's "App Store". You can change background colors, the appearance of the screen, etc....

ALL WITHOUT VOIDING YOUR WARRANTY. :-)

They have jailbroken the iPhone 3G and iPod 1G. Not my 2G yet. It is in the works though and a release is expected next month.

Cool all helpful info. Glad you're liking it.

I'm on the verge of getting a 2g touch but not sure if i should hold off for maybe a 3r gen version?

Is the 8gb too little if i only intend to use it for music?

And if you come across any sweet applications do share with us which ones you like. Ofcourse, FREE ones are always preferred.

Isn't there a DEV team that has created a jailbreak - yellowsnow?

Go to Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide and search for jailbreak or yellowsnow. Should give you the info.

the 3g if and when it comes out.......is not going to be much better imho. the 1G to 2G jump wasn't overwhelming really. They made it slimmer, which is pretty much the best thing they did with it. Some of the other stuff is in the category of "software tweaks". But now this thing is so slim I am sitting in my office with the touch fitting in my office shirt pocket, with my 2 ID cards, a pack of Trident gum (the big one) and if I wanted to.......I could stuff my cell phone in there too.

What I really wanna know if someone has tried the invisible shield @ ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | iPhone, iPod Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

um yes. 8 GB = 2000 songs. Not enough by anyone's music standards really in this day and age. I had over 40 GB of music. However a bunch of CDs that were loaded.....I didnt like even half the songs. So I PAINSTAKINGLY went through the whole 40GB of music over a period of 3 weeks (feel free to throw up) and deleted all the songs I DONT like. I am now at just under 20 GB. The 8 GB will go...........FAST. I have the 32 GB version

See when you go to the app store you can simply select "Top Free" from every category and it will show you all it's got.

RObo..thanks for the feedback on the ipod...just some more questions....

1. Can i upload - via itunes - songs that were downloaded of p2p websites or will I only be able to upload music from CDs I own?

2. Can I only add/remove songs using itunes on my computer or can I go to other computers to change stuff on the ipod? (one thing I don't like about apple stuff )

Yes, you can. And not only that......there are free apps to download for both Windows/Mac that will allow you to download from the iPod into another computer so you can play the DRM free content there. So......it can serve as a portable HD.

Additionally, I dont know if you have heard this, but Apple has now announced DRM free music. For 30 cents extra per song, you can pretty much download anything you want and distribute it to anyone you want. This means that Limewire and the old Napster type of software will be back with a vengeance. And this means that your concerns will go away.

as long as you can log in to a machine with your credentials.......you should be able to do this. But the trick may be to first download from your iPod to the computer using the 3rd party software and load it into iTunes. Now sign in to iTunes store using your credentials. Connect the iPod and it thinks that you have connected it to the same old machine as your first one to use the iPod
