Default Our real problem is....

I would like to know what Knicks fans think our real problem is because it ain't talent !

Of course chemistry, but If you noticed last season, the games where our offense was clicking and we were winning, our defense also looked pretty good. Point is that when our players get frustrated and start missing shots and turning the ball over, they don't play Defense, whereas some teams, Cavs, Pistons, Philly if they are not shooting well, they depend on their Defense to win games.

Thats my take, what do you think our real problem is?

1. Too many guys used to being the "go to guy" and not enough role players. Team USA has guys who are willing to be role players. Kobe and LeBron have been the "go to guys" on Team USA. Everyone else has willingly become role players.
2. Too much money paid out. When you get paid, some guys have nothing to play for.
3. No pride. This team really doesn't know what it means to be a Knick, and the priviledge it is to play in the basketball capital of the world.
That is MY opinion. Deal Zach, Eddy, Jamal, Jared, just about anyone, because few players showed pride and heart last year.

Heart, character, mental toughness, pride (as mentioned above), things like that. And the run of incompetent management didn't really help either. And I know we got guys who care, but some just give up too easily. It's f*cking annoying! Watching them let all that talent and opportunity go to waste. It's like losing is just whatever now. Hopefully D'Antoni/Walsh will give them the winning attitude needed.

I agree with both of you guys, I hope coach D can put a fire under their ass and if their ass don't burn them ship them the hell out of here for young hungry talent. a la Josh Smith, I know I talk about this kid too much, but I really think he will be a Dominick Wilkins type franchise player in another year or two. He is only 22.

The problem with the Knicks has been the same problem for the past six years. They have no consistent team identity. There hasn't been a point guard to come in here and put his stamp on this team since Chris Childs and Charlie Ward-- and even that is a stretch. So, generally speaking, the team has lacked true leadership (Kurt Thomas was the last guy to really step up), and the coaching staff(s), over the years, have consistently failed to emphasize defense.

After all, it isn't a question of whether our current roster has the ability to play defense. We have the athletes. We have the size and lateral quickness. They just haven't been persuaded that playing defense is in their individual and the team's best interest. A few of these guys aren't going to be persuaded, either: Crawford, Curry and Randolph come to mind.

Not being able to get rid of these loser players fast enough. Their contracts have made it difficult to find trading partners, it looks like we may just have to ride things out or do it in fire sale fashion like the Grizzlies.

Besides all that, our talent level isn't that good anyways. Lee is a very good player, nothing more. Crawford is a 6th man on a contender. ZBo is maybe the most overrated 20-10 player in NBA history. Chandler is okay, but there are a lot of better young wings than him. Nate Robinson will always be a backup player. Eddy Curry will never be a player you can rely on because his talent only equates to one thing, scoring. And nobody knows exactly what Danilo is yet.

Biggest problem, I agree with BK...it's identity, and direction of management. Because we don't have an identity, we didn't have a direction as far as the roster, or as far as the coach and system...Isiah never decided what we wanted to be.

He just made moves, then tried to justify them after...he stockpiled athletes, then said we are a running team, but then he hired LB, then he aquired Curry, and ZBo and now we were a power team...

Donnie, at least in hiring D'Antoni, at least seems to have chosen a direction first. Which is what is needed.

i agree with your assesment 100% Flat

We do have talent in chandler, lee, gallo, curry, crawford, nate, zack
whats been lacking is a plan and someone other than zeke to answer to!
all if not most were Zekes pets until they disagreed with him then they rode the pine or played ridiculos minutes like Curry and Nate!
I very excited that our Team will be coach this season!
i heard coach D practises are 2 hours long!
about 2 hours longer than Zekes!

i think our problem is the auto fires we got on the team especially Zach Randolph. If you want to see him shoot pass him the ball. He will not let you down on that one. We need a pass first point gaurd which i think most people will agree with. That is the problem with the team but the management is an even bigger problem.over the years too many idiots made trades and signings for big money making it nearly impossible to move players that are unfavorable for the next coach and the next coach. Then it doesnt click then you have a knicks team right there.

im just lost i dont no what to say anymore
